Be sure to check our FAQ if you have any questions! It's a normal, pleasant morning when you walk to your mailbox. Most of its contents are garbage, advertisements and junk mail, but one letter strikes your interest. Its an invitation A special one by the looks of it. Its a simple red letter with gold outlines. The outside reads in bright gold letters, "You've been invited" Strange, you find this, as you do not remember any events happening recently. Even stranger is the lack of return address. Curious, you open the letter. Inside you find two papers. The first paper you see reads: "Hello and welcome! You've been invited to come and enjoy a very special party. We, the Crooks, would like to formally extend are sincerest gratitude and excitement that you accept our invitation. We hope your trip is safe and smooth. sincerely, Charles and Carmella Crook" You look deeper within the envelope and find a list of directions to the home, a list of items and outfits to bring and a phone number. Next to the phone number written in beautiful calligraphy is "If unable to come call this number." Odd you find this entire situation. Who are the Crooks? You've never heard of them before. You're first instinct is to decline such a request. You reach for your cellular device and quickly tap the number written on the paper. Before you can even utter a word, a calm yet cheery voice answers. "Oh so you've decided to come? How wonderful! We'll be sure to send a pick up car your way to ensure your safe arrival." You choke on your words. This was far from what you wanted or expected! You clear your throat, ready to tell off this complete stranger, but they speak again, deeper and colder than before. "No one declines a Crook invitation." And just like that the line goes dead. Millions of thoughts rush through your head as you stand by your mailbox on this pleasant morning. You look back at the letter, the hairs on the back of your neck rising suddenly. Turning your head you spy a long black car on the corner of the road. The driver rolls their window down and repeats the very same words the stranger on the phone told you moments before, "No one declines a Crook invitation." The certainly weren't the same stranger but it still sent shivers down your spine. "You'd best get all those items on the list. It's a long drive." They rolled their window back up and just sat there silently, waiting. So you did just that. You reentered your house and acquired all your best clothes, a handful of nice gowns and suits, some sleepwear and all the essentials. All the while your mind told you no, said that this was a bad idea--run away!--your body said otherwise, as if under a trance. You exited your house with all you needed and entered the strange car. This entire ordeal seemed so surreal to you but you couldn't stop to ask questions. Soon you would make it to this mysterious mansion and join some mysterious party hosted by some mysterious people by the name of Charles and Carmella Crook. If only knew that these days spent at this mansion could be your last. |
